Kevin is an Alabama native who graduated with a B.S. degree in business administration with a major in finance from Auburn University. He began his career in banking with First Union National Bank (now Wachovia Bank ) in Charlotte, North Carolina where he held several positions in business development and management throughout the Southeast. He was directly responsible for operations management, forging strategic relationships, and dramatically expanding revenue.
After coaching several businesses and assisting them with their financial needs, Kevin attended The A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University where he received his MBA with a concentration in Information Systems and Entrepreneurship. Since then, Kevin has gained extensive experience in planning, launching, and executing new ventures. As the founder and president of Advanced Skin Technology, a cosmeceutical product development, manufacturing, and marketing firm, he was instrumental in all aspects of business planning including product development, strategy formulation, marketing, distribution, and execution.
Kevin’s first entrepreneurial venture was as CFO and co-founder of Infusion Technology Group which successfully raised venture funds to create supply chain management software and services for the textile industry. In 2002, he started Net Leverage an Internet software development company that created a web site automation suite of tools that allowed website owners administer their own Internet presence.
Kevin has served on the boards Alabama Information Technology Association and TechBirmingham. He is also active in the Birmingham Area Chamber of Commerce in several capacities.
Kevin resides in Highland Park, a historical community in Birmingham, Alabama with his wife, Carolyn Pope Katechis, and their two children. The family is deeply dedicated to restoring older homes and revitalizing and maintaining historical districts.
